Abdul Kamane (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) led the Bishop's Gaiters with 17 points however, it was a lone bright spot, as the No. 5 McGill Redmen refused to lose two in a row and they routed the Gaiters 108-57 in Montreal on Saturday night.
Kamane came off the bench to score his 17 and added six rebounds and two steals for Bishop's in their losing effort.
Jordan Thornhill (St-Lazare, Que.) added 11 and
Nervens Demosthene (Terrebonne, Que. ) grabbed 10 rebounds and tallied five points in the loss.
For McGill Noah Daoust led all scorers with 18 points. He was one of five Redmen in double figures. Francois Bourque scored 13 and Jenning Leung, Isaiah Cummins and Avery Cadogen each netted 12.
McGill jumped out to a 27-16 lead after the first stanza and extended their advantage to 50-34 at the half. The third was more McGill who avenged their loss the previous night in Lennoxville with a convincing performance. The Redmen outscored Bishop's 32-15 in the third quarter and 26-8 in the final frame to make the final 108-57.
Next up for Bishop's (3-18, 3-8) they will enjoy a bye week before tipping off against the UQAM Citadins (5-19, 2-8) on Thursday, Feb. 8 in Montreal. The game has potential to have massive playoff implications in the RSEQ as Bishop's sits a game ahead of UQAM in the RSEQ standing while holding a 2-1 record versus the Citadins.
