Gaiters in Montreal for tilt with No.4 Stingers on Saturday Afternoon

LENNOXVILLE, Que. – The Bishop's Gaiters team will face another stern test on Saturday afternoon when they tip-off with the No.4 Concordia Stingers in Montreal at 2 p.m. in RSEQ University women's basketball.

Where we Stand:
The RSEQ continues to flex its muscles as the toughest conference in Canada. The Stingers (2-1 RSEQ, 11-2 Overall) are the nation's fourth ranked team. Their only losses came in their first game of the year against No. 5 Ottawa and in their RSEQ season opener against No. 1 Laval.

McGill, the seven-time defending RSEQ champions are not ranked in the top-10 but continue to be a force.

RSEQ Standings:

2 Concordia 3 2 1 202 189 0.667 1.0 4

5 UQAM 3 0 3 181 190 0.000 3.0 0

Last time out:
Bishop's (1-2 RSEQ, 3-5 Overall) dropped contests at McGill and home to Laval last week while Concordia beat McGill on Thursday night and UQAM a week ago.

W2W4:
Maude Archambault (St-Augustine-de-Desmaures, Que./Cegep de Montmorency) has led the way for the Gaiters through three games.  Prior to this weekend's games, she was fifth in the conference in scoring with 15 points per game. Super sophomore Marie Berrouette (Montreal, Que./Dawson College) was second in rebounding at 12 per game.

The Stingers boast the top two scorers in the conference. Entering this week's play freshman Myriam Leclerc was averaging 17.5 points per game while Caroline Task chimed in at 17 per game. Coralie Dumont was ninth in scoring at 11 points per game

Task was the conference Rookie of the Year in 2016-17 and Dumont earned that honour a year ago while Leclerc is an early season favourite to make it three Stingers in a row.

Coach Norman's Corner:
"Concordia is a very talented team," said Gaiters' head coach Craig Norman. "Coach Gittens has done a great job recruiting the last few years.  They are a tough, competitive, physical basketball game.  They are skilled at every position and it is always tough to play at that Concordia Gym.

"That being said I think we match up fairly well with them depth-wise.  They have a few injuries and so do we. It is going to be a war of attrition of their best players versus our best players and whichever teams' best players play better, they will come out on top.  It's not going to be easy but we are going to be prepared."
