Bishop’s set for Busy Weekend at Home

SHERBROOKE, Que.  – The Gaiters women's soccer team has a busy weekend at home; they host the Sherbrooke Vert et Or on Friday night at 7 p.m. and the Concordia Stingers on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.

Tale of the Tape
Bishop's (0-3-0) is coming off a loss to No. 2 Montreal last weekend in Montreal.  The Gaiters held the Carabins to three goals, all in the first half of action.

Sherbrooke (1-2-0) took down Concordia (0-2-1) 8-1 last weekend.   Laura Veilleux, of the Vert et Or was named U SPORTS athlete of the week.

Head Coach Paul Ballard:
It will be a great weekend to be at home, the girls definitely feel prepared and ready for a challenge that Sherbrooke and Concordia both bring us.  The last two weeks when we played against Laval and Montreal, those were huge challenges.  The girls have a good mindset; that it is not necessarily about the result but more about the process to get there.  They have been working very hard in both our attacking and defensive phase with things that we need to focus on as opposed to the things that we can't control.

Anytime we get to play in front of our home fans is something that we are going to look forward to, especially in light of the turnout at the UQTR game.  It's going to be exciting. Sherbrooke had an incredibly explosive game against Concordia.  Anytime a team scores eight goals and an individual player six goals, you have to take notice.  When you watch Sherbrooke in their first two games, they were very unlucky not to have scored, so it wasn't a surprise that they scored in buckets.

For us it is a matter of maintaining, staying alive as long as possible and the game of soccer, what makes it beautiful is anything can happen.  It's a big game against a local team and a quick turnaround to play against another rival in Concordia.  It's going to be a big weekend but we will try and keep our head on straight and take it one step at a time.
