SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's Gaiters men's rugby team is set for their home opener against cross town rivals, the Sherbrooke Vert et Or.  Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. on Coulter Field.
 
Tale of the Tape
Both teams have had a weekend off to rest and recover from the first weekend of RSEQ men's rugby action.  Bishop's beat Ottawa 29-12 on the road in their first game.  Tyler Murphy (Bromont, Que./Massey Vanier H.S.) led the way for the Gaiters; he scored one try, made three conversations and one penalty kick for a total of 14 points.  Josh Bray (Lennoxville, Que./Bishop's College School), Patrick Currie (Saint John, N.B./Saint John H.S.) and Robert McGovern (Brigham, Que./Champlain College Lennoxville) also scored tries for Bishop's. 
Sherbrooke lost to Concordia 66-7 in Montreal in their first game of the season.
 
Match-up
Last year Bishop's beat the Vert et Or 25-21 at Sherbrooke early in the season.  They had to face each other again in the RSEQ quarter final.  The Gaiters won that contest 33-31 on a penalty by Murphy in the final seconds of the game. 
 
Standings
Bishop's currently sits equal with Concordia and McGill, all with four points in the league standings.  Sherbrooke has no points after the first weekend of action.  
 
Coach's Comments
Sherbrooke had a pretty poor first game against a dominant Concordia squad, but we can still expect a tough go from them.  A lot of our guys and their guys play for the Sherbooke Abenakis in the summer, so it will be a game of summertime teammates vs fall adversaries, which is always interesting. 
We are rested and look good after a week off, we just need to come out on Saturday and perform.   
With regards to the 35^th Reunion, the veterans understand the importance of this weekend to the rugby program but think I think that it will only hit a lot of the guys when they see how many people are in the stands on Saturday. 

Wall of Distinction
On Saturday, Sept. 22, the 1992-1993-1994 Bishop's men's rugby teams will be inducted into the Bishop's University Athletics' Wall of Distinction at the John H. Price Sports and Recreation Centre.
