Gaiters get set to face No. 1 Montreal

SHERBROOKE, Que.  – The Bishop's Gaiters women's soccer team is set for their Friday night match up with the No. 1 Montreal Carabins in Montreal at 6:30 p.m.

The Gaiters are coming off a 1-0 loss at home to UQTR (2-0-0) and a 3-0 loss to No. 2 Laval in Quebec City.  Montreal tied with Laval and took down McGill (1-1-0) 5-0 in the first week of RSEQ women's soccer action.

Last season the Gaiters fell 2-0 at home and 4-0 in Montreal to the Carabins.

Head Coach Paul Ballard:
It is hard to prepare for a team as explosive as Montreal. We have watched their games against Laval and McGill and have seen how potent they are in the attacking third; it's going to be a tall order for us this weekend.

The message we have sent to the team from the start of training this week until today, is that we have to stick to our guns and stick to what we have been working on since the start of preseason.  We need to play our game, adjust some of our tactics slightly but not completely change what we have been working on.

We see this game as one where we can build momentum, whether that is a win or a loss, we will be focusing on finding momentum.   Come the following week when the schedule starts to become busier, with two games a week we need to make sure that in some way shape or form we are coming off of a high.  We have given the team a lot of milestones to accomplish during the game and we are excited to see the No. 1 team in the nation.

Next Up:
The Gaiters will host Sherbrooke at 7 p.m. on Sept. 14th on Coulter Field.
