LENNOXVILLE, Que. – On the road again. The Bishop's Gaiters men's basketball team heads down highway 417 for the House-Laughton Tournament hosted by the Carleton Ravens this weekend. They will play a trio of games against U SPORTS competition.
 
The Gaiters are 3-1 against U SPORTS schools and 5-1 overall this year.  They bested a pair of NCAA DIII teams in August, and then went 2-1 at the Laurentian Tournament last month.  They opened the event with wins over Waterloo and Western, and then lost to the hosts in overtime.  Finally, they played an exhibition game at StFX on Oct. 4 where they won 88-81.

The Gaiters are 12-15 all-time versus the Varsity Blues, but have won the last two meetings, most recently a 78-76 win on Oct. 30, 2016.
 
Toronto went 7-16 in the OUA East last year and missed the playoffs. So far this pre-season they have lost to McGill and beat UQAM in U SPORTS action.

Carleton continues to lead the pack when it comes to men's basketball in Canada. The winners of 14 of the last 17 W.P. McGee Trophies are once again in possession of the top prize in university men's basketball in this country.
 
To date this year they are 3-0 against U SPORTS competition and 5-1 overall.  That includes wins over South Florida and Albany of the NCAA in August. They also rolled through Calgary, Victoria and Regina in pre-season play.
 
The Gaiters are 13-30 all-time against the Ravens. Most recently, Carleton beat them in Sept. 2018 in Nova Scotia.

Bishop's wraps up the 2019 edition of the House-Laughton tournament against the Acadia Axemen.  They are 7-11 all-time against their Maple League colleagues. Most recently, Bishop's topped Acadia 76-72 in Wolfville, N.S. in Sept. 2018.
 
The Axemen are 1-3 this pre-season, all against U SPORTS competition.  They opened the year with a loss to Manitoba, beat York then lost to St. Mary's at the Stu Aberdeen Challenge. Finally, they also fell to UNB 105-65 in early October.
