LENNOXVILLE, Que. – After an up and down pre-season, the Bishop's Gaiters men's basketball team rolls into the 2019-20 RSEQ University season as the No.7 team in the nation. They open on the road at Concordia on Thursday and host UQAM on Saturday. Tip-off for both games is scheduled for 8 p.m.

The Gaiters come into the season as the top-ranked team in the RSEQ after a 5-3 preseason against U SPORTS competition; that includes a win over the No.3 Ottawa Gee Gees.
Leading the way for Bishop's is fifth-year senior
Abdul Kamane (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) who was named a 2nd team RSEQ All-star last year and was the third leading scorer in the conference.
Nervens Demosthene (Terrebonne, Que./Cegep de Montmorency), a third-year guard led the Gaiters with 15.9 points per game though the preseason. He was named the RSEQ Rookie of the Year in 2017-18.

The Stingers opened the year with a 90-85 win over UQAM last Saturday. They were led by Oliver Simon who had a monster 35 points on 13-17 shooting and added 10 rebounds to complete the double-double. Ali White and three-point specialist Adrian Armstrong chipped in with 16 and 11 points.
Bishop's is 11-15 against Concordia since 2013. That includes a 79-71 loss to the Stingers in the RSEQ semifinal a year ago. Concordia went onto win the RSEQ Championship last season, their first title since 2012.

Alix Lochard led UQAM with 20 points in their season opening loss at Concordia. He was one of five Citadins in double figures.
Since 2013 the Gaiters are 11-13 against UQAM, 5-3 in their last eight. Last season the squad split the four games they played.
The Citadins finished last year a game ahead of the Gaiters in the standings then upset McGill in the RSEQ semifinal before losing to the Stingers in the championship.

After the pair of games this week, Bishop's has two more next week. Thursday, Nov. 21 they host McGill and Sunday, Nov. 24 they travel to Laval.
