Last time out
Bishop's is on a two-game winning streak after topping the Laval Rouge et Or by a combined four points in two games last weekend. The victories kept Bishop's playoff hopes alive. They now sit tied in the win column with Laval and hold any head-to-head tiebreaker.
Concordia (10-4) did not play last weekend but with a McGill loss to UQAM, the Stingers clinched first place in the RSEQ. Concordia hosted McGill on Thursday night, they fell 70-59 to the Redmen.
We Meet Again
Concordia has won the three meetings between these two teams so far this year but all three games have been thrillers despite the final scores. It was a 105-91 win in Montreal before the Christmas break, a back and forth 78-68 win in Montreal on Jan. 10 and an equally exciting 99-94 overtime victory in Mitchell Gym on Jan. 12.
Playoff Picture
The wide-open RSEQ still has many questions to be answered before the playoff picture is set. Bishop's can finish as high as third place and as low as fifth.
Sensational Seniors
Duncan Lambert (Kingston, Ont./Regiopolis Notre Dame C.H.S.) has battled injuries throughout his career but that has not stopped him from being a leader on the team. The co-captain showed what he is capable of in a game at McGill before Christmas connecting on five three-pointers in a quarter. He was the 2017-18 Garth Smith team award winner and is a three-time academic all-Canadian.
Andrew Howarth (Oakville, Ont./Thomas A. Blakelock H.S.) has been a valuable piece to the Bishop's Gaiters puzzle over the years. A player who has earned the trust of coach
Rod Gilpin, Howarth is coming into a zone this season. The Oakville native is averaging 21.2 minutes per game. Howarth is also a three-time Academic all-Canadian.
Transfer
Kevin Davis (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor H.S.) enters Saturday's game playing some of the best basketball in his short, but effective time as a Gaiters. The current Provigo, Robert Lafond Athelte of the Week and RSEQ Male Athlete of the Week is a leader on the team both emotionally and on the court. Davis averages 14.4 points per game and 3.1 assists per game.
Abdul Kamane (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) was the RSEQ Rookie of the Year in 2015-16 and on the U SPORTS all-rookie team that same season. To cap the trifecta he was named the Bishop's University Freshman of the Year that season. The Vanier College product currently leads the team in scoring (14.5 points per game), rebounding (6.8 per game) and steals 1.7 per game.
