Gaiters Look to Clinch a Playoff Spot Against the Rouge et Or

LENNOXVILLE, Que. – The Bishop's University men's basketball team will host the Laval Rouge et Or on Thursday in a crucial match up as both teams are fighting for the last RSEQ playoff spot. Opening tip in Mitchell Gym is set for 8 p.m.
 
Bishop's (5-8)
The Gaiters enter the week after pair of tough losses against McGill (10-4). Bishop's dropped game one in Montreal on Thursday night by a final score of 83-58. Joany Castor Thadal (Montreal, Que./Champlain Collge St-Lambert) was lone Gaiter in double figures as he finished the night with 11 points. The Gaiters would then come up short in Mitchell Gym on Saturday night losing the rematch by a final score of 73-68. Nervens Demosthene (Terrebonne, Que./Cegep de Montmorency) led all scorers with 21 points.
 
Bishop's enters this week in fourth place in the RSEQ standings, two games back of the UQAM Citadins (7-6) for third place.
 
Laval (2-11)
The Rouge et Or come into the week following a pair of losses to the Concordia Stingers (9-4). Laval dropped the first meeting at home on Thursday night by a score of 90-59. Steeve Joseph finished the night with team high 20 points for the Rouge et Or. Laval would lose Saturday's rematch in Montreal by a final score of 86-81. Vladimir Thomas led the way with a game high 28 points.
 
Laval enters this week in fifth place in the RSEQ standings, three games back of the Gaiters for fourth place.
 
What's On The Line
Bishop's and Laval are in a fight for the fourth and final RSEQ playoff spot. With a win on Thursday night the Gaiters will secure the final playoff spot, but a Laval win will keep the Rouge et Or in the running for the final playoff spot.
 
Statistical Leaders
Nervens Demosthene (Terrebonne, Que./Cegep de Montmorency) continues to be one of the top scorers in the RSEQ, he currently sits second in the conference averaging 18.2 points per game. Demosthene leads the conference in assists with 5.4 a game while his teammate Ibrahim Ngom (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) is second in the RSEQ with 3.5 assists per game. Abdul Kamane (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) is in fourth in the conference in rebounds averaging 7.4 per game.
