LENNOXVILLE, Que – Six Gaiters scored in double figures as the Bishop's Gaiters clinched a playoff spot with a 95-92 victory over Laval on Thursday night in Mitchell Gym in RSEQ University men's basketball.
Fifth-year senior
Yassin Naji (Lunel, France/Lycee Pothier Orleans) scored 18 points to lead the Gaiters.
Jordan Thornhill (Montreal, Que./John Abbott College) chipped in with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Joany Castor Thadal (Montreal, Que./Champlain Collge St-Lambert) scored 15,
Carl Jacob (Sherbrooke, Que./Champlain-Lennoxville) had 13 and
Nervens Demosthene (Terrebonne, Que./Cegep de Montmorency) and
Connor Kelly (Brockville, Ont./St. Mary's C.S.S.) each tallied 12 in the win.
The high-scoring affair saw the lead change hands 12 times and was tied on four occasions.
Sidney Tremblay-Lacombe scored 31 and Vladimir Thomas had 30 in the loss for Laval who is officially eliminated from playoff contention.
At 6-8 the Gaiters can finish as high as third place or as low as fourth in the RSEQ standings with two games remaining.
Their next opponent, the Concordia Stingers (9-4) are in a battle for top spot in the conference. The foes tip-off on Thursday at 8 p.m. in Mitchell Gym.
