LENNOXVILLE, Que. – For the second consecutive year, the Bishop's Gaiters and Concordia Stingers men's basketball teams will meet in an RSEQ semifinal in Montreal. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Concordia Gymnasium on Wednesday night.
Bishop's (8-8)
The Gaiters head into the playoffs following a pair wins in the final week of the regular season.
Nervens Demosthene (Terrebonne, Que./Cegep de Montmorency) scored a career high 39 points, the most in a single game in the RSEQ since 2014, as the Gaiters knocked off the Concordia Stingers by a final score of 102-93 in Mitchell gym on Thursday night. Bishop's then hit the road to take on the UQAM Citadins to close out the season in Montreal on Saturday night. Demosthene led the way once again as he scored a game high 22 points in the Gaiters 72-61 victory over the Citadins.
Concordia (10-6)
The Stingers enter the playoffs after splitting a pair of games to end their regular season. They dropped their opening game of the week on the road against Gaiters by a score of 102-93 on Thursday night. Adrian Armstrong led the way for Concordia with 33 points. The Stingers then hosted the Laval Rouge et Or to close out their season on Saturday. Oge Nwoko scored a team high 17 points to lead the Stingers to a 92-68 victory.
Season Series
Bishop's and Concordia met four times this season with the Gaiters going 2-2 in those games, winning the last two matchups. Bishop's was 0-2 on the road and 2-0 in Mitchell Gym against Concordia.
Statistical Leaders
The Gaiters finished the regular season with the leading scorer in the RSEQ in
Nervens Demosthene (Terrebonne, Que./Cegep de Montmorency) who averaged 19.4 points per game. He also led the conference in assists with 5.3 per game and was seventh in rebounding with 6.4 per game.
Jordan Thornhill (Montreal, Que./John Abbott College) was fourth in the conference in rebounding.
Ibrahim Ngom (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) was second in assists with 3.8 per game.
