MONTREAL – The Bishop's Gaiters men's basketball team could not keep up with McGill as they dropped the road contest by a score of 83-58.
How it Happened
The opening quarter was full of runs by both teams. McGill went early, the Gaiters fought back to tie but then McGill closed out the quarter with a 26-19 lead. The second quarter was a much better one for the Gaiters as they outscored McGill 18-11 to even things up at 37 at the half. McGill would take over in the second half with dominant third quarter outscoring the Gaiters 27-9 to take a 64-46 lead into the fourth. From there McGill would cruise to an 83-58 victory.
The loss drops the Gaiters to 5-7 on the season keeping them in fourth place in the RSEQ.
Joany Castor Thadal (Montreal, Que./Champlain Collge St-Lambert) was the lone Gaiter in double figures with 11 points while four of five McGill starters scored at least 11. They were led by Jamal Mayali who tallied 24 points.
Next Up
The Gaiters will have a chance to avenge this loss as they host McGill on Saturday night in Mitchell Gym. Opening tip is set for 8 p.m.
