KINGSTON, Ont. - The Gaiters travelled to Kingston, Ontario over the weekend for two pre-season contests with the Queen's Gaels.
In the opening game on Saturday night,
Amaiquen Siciliano put up 23 points for Bishop's and added three rebounds and four steals while
Jael Kabunda (Montreal, Que./College Montmorency) and
Deborah Aboagye (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) combined for 20 points. Despite an impressive 23-point fourth quarter for the Gaiters (shooting 62.5% from the field and 75% from 3-point range), the Gaels narrowly escaped with a 67-64 victory. Queen's was led by Julia Chadwick who posted a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds.
On Sunday afternoon, the Gaiters returned to the Queen's ARC for a rematch with the Gaels. Bishop's was propelled by three players in double-digits -
Victoria Gauna (Mendoza, Argentina/) (19),
Amaiquen Siciliano (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Velez Sarsfield) (14) and
Jael Kabunda (Montreal, Que./College Montmorency) (12). Kabunda also recorded 10 rebounds for the Gaiters' first double-double of the weekend. The Gaiters trailed the Gaels by 13 points headed into the final quarter but regrouped, scoring 25 points in the closing 10 minutes of the game to get a 68-67 victory. Bishop's had 21 points off of turnovers, 24 points in the paint and 11 second-chance points throughout Sunday's game.
