MONTREAL – The UQAM Citadins score 49 second half points to erase a two-point Bishop's Gaiters halftime lead as the hosts cruised an 80-64 win on Thursday night in Montreal.
 
The win improves UQAM to 4-7 while Bishop's falls to 3-8.  The two squads will tip-off again on Saturday in Mitchell Gym in the final RSEQ University regular season contests.
 
UQAM's Frantson Demothene led the way with 18 point and 16 rebounds. He was 10-16 from the free throw line. Karim Sabban added 18 while Alix Lochard and Samuel Cayo rounded out Citadins in double figures with 16 and 12 respectively.
 
Ibrahim Ngom (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) once again paced the Gaiters with 18 points.  He also added six assists in the loss. Anthony Sanogo (Montreal, Que./) scored 17, 10 of those points coming from the charity stripe. Matthis Guerut (Paris, France/Cegep de Thetford) was the only other Gaiter in double figures with 10.
 
The Citadins used their size to punish the Gaiters inside as they scored 32 points in the paint compared to just 4 for Bishop's. UQAM also took 38 free throws.
 
The Gaiters were 8-30 from three-point range while UQAM connected on just three of 10 attempts.
 
Bishop's was cold early on as they fired just 16.7 percent from the floor in the opening stanza before finishing the game at 25.7 percent (18-70).
 
The Gaiters will need to win on Saturday to earn a spot in the postseason.
 
Saturday's game tips off at 8 p.m. in Mitchell Gym.  Prior to the game, the Gaiters will honour their graduating seniors.
