LENNOXVILLE – The Montreal Carabins leave Lennoxville on Super Bowl Sunday with a victory after beating the Bishop's Gaiters 2-0.
After controlling most of the opening period, Montreal was able to find the back of the next at the 19:04 mark to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
A back and forth scoreless second period saw just seven shots make it on net as Montreal held their 1-0 lead through 40 minutes.
The Carabins added an empty net goal in the final seconds of the game to win 2-0.
For Bishop's Goalie Aglae Rene de Cotret made 23 saves and was named the game's second star.
Standings
The loss means Bishop's is locked into fourth place in the RSEQ and will face the Concordia Stingers in the first round of the playoffs starting on Thursday, Feb. 23.
Next Up
The Gaiters will play back-to-back games against the Ottawa Gee-Gees to close out the regular season. On Wednesday they are in the Nation's Capital for a 7 PM puck drop and on Friday they meet in the Jane and Eric Molson Arena at 8 p.m. for Bishop's Senior Night.
