MONTREAL – Rookie of the Year candidate
Etienne Gagnon (/Cegep de Sherbrooke) flexed his muscles on Thursday night as the Bishop's Gaiters went into UQAM and beat the first place Citadins 78-61.
Bishop's led 18-14 after 10 minutes and 40-34 at half before turning it up in the third stanza with a massive 23-8 advantage. That allowed them to cruise to the 78-61 victory, their sixth of the season.
The win moves them into third place in the RSEQ at 6-7 while UQAM falls to 9-4.
RSEQ Standings
The two squads will meet again twice more this season, both in Mitchell Gym in Lennoxville. The first of those meetings is the back end of this home-and-home this Saturday at 8 p.m.

…Gagnon tallied yet another double-double, with 20 points and 18 rebounds.

David Navarro (/) was excellent at both ends of the court. He was 3-6 from behind the arc and scored 11 points
…
Zachary John (Scarborough/) netted 14 and had 5 rebounds and 4 assists
…Danny Longarela tallied his own efficient double-double by going 3-4 from the floor and 4-4 from the charity stripe for 10 points and he also hauled in 10 rebounds
…all 12 Gaiters saw the floor for at least 3 minutes while 8 played at least 16 minutes
… Bishop's also outscored UQAM 44-24 in the paint
