LENNOXVILLE, Que. –
Etienne Gagnon (Longueuil, QC/Cegep de Sherbrooke) scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Bishop's Gaiters outlasted the McGill Redbirds on Saturday night in Lennoxville by a final of 75-60.
The win gave Bishop's the season sweep over McGill and improves them to 6-5, good for third place in the RSEQ. McGill falls to 1-8.
Charles Robert (Vaudreuil, QC/Suffield Academy) scored 14 and
Yve Nsanzinshuti (Quebec City, QC/Champlain College Saint-Lambert) had 10 off the bench while playing a key role in his 18 minutes on the court.
Bishop's led for the majority of the contest but weren't able to put the Redbirds away until the fourth quarter. The game was knotted at 11 through 10 minutes, Bishop's held a 32-26 lead at the half. The Gaiters came out in the third on fire, but McGill hung around. A late bucket gave Bishop's the momentum they needed to put the game away in the final stanza. The Gaiters led by as many as 25 points in the fourth before settling for the 75-60 victory.
Bishop's held McGill to just 28.8 percent from the floor and out rebounded them 51-39.
Sean Herscovitch and Joshua Soifer each had 10 points in the losing cause.
The Gaiters are back on the hardwood on Saturday, Jan. 27 when they host Laval (2-7) at 8 p.m. as part of the annual Mental Health Awareness Night.

Etienne Gagnon (Longueuil, QC/Cegep de Sherbrooke) a marqué 15 points et capté 10 rebonds alors que les Gaiters de Bishop's ont résisté aux Redbirds de McGill samedi soir à Lennoxville pour l'emporter 75-60.
La victoire a permis à Bishop's de réaliser le balayage de la saison contre McGill et les place à 6-5, occupant la troisième place dans la RSEQ. McGill chute à 1-8.
Charles Robert (Vaudreuil, QC/Suffield Academy) a marqué 14 points et
Yve Nsanzinshuti (Quebec City, QC/Champlain College Saint-Lambert) en a ajouté 10 en sortie de banc tout en jouant un rôle clé lors de ses 18 minutes sur le terrain.
Bishop's a mené pendant la majeure partie du match mais n'a pas réussi à se débarrasser des Redbirds avant le quatrième quart-temps. Bishop's menait 32-26 à la mi-temps. Les Gaiters sont sortis en feu au troisième quart, mais McGill est resté dans le match. Un panier tardif a donné à Bishop's l'élan nécessaire pour sceller le match dans le dernier quart. Les Gaiters ont mené de jusqu'à 25 points au quatrième quart avant de finalement s'imposer 75-60.
Bishop's a limité McGill à seulement 28,8 % au tir et les a surpassés aux rebonds 51-39.
Sean Herscovitch et Joshua Soifer ont chacun marqué 10 points dans une cause perdante.
Les Gaiters sont de retour le samedi 27 janvier lorsqu'ils recevront Laval (2-7) à 20 h.
