LENNOXVILLE, Que. – The Bishop's Gaiters golf teams will tee it up for the first time in the RSEQ season this Monday and Tuesday at the Milby Golf Club.
 
The men look to defend the RSEQ title they won a year ago while the women have eyes on qualifying for nationals for the fist time in their program history after narrowly missing out in 2023.
 
Men's squad
Led by 2023 RSEQ Coach of the Year Ryan Smith, the Gaiters return all five starters that helped them win their first championship on 30 years. Ryan Massicotte (Québec, QC/Champlain College St. Lawrence), the reigning Bishop's University Male Athlete of the Year anchors a crew that includes Milby members Shawn Robillard (Sherbrooke, QC/Champlain College Lennoxville) and Scott Loach (Lennoxville, QC/Champlain College Lennoxville) while fellow Townshipper Michael Brazel (Ayer's Cliff, QC/Champlain College Lennoxville) (Dufferin Heights) and Vernon, B.C. native Landen Harison (Vernon, BC/Columbia Bible College) round out the five. All have earned RSEQ all-star status in their career.
 
Veteran William Cote (Québec, QC/Bishop's College School) is joined by newcomers Max Hay (Fredericton, NB/Leo Hayes High School) and Felix Wilson (Ottawa, ON/Immaculata High School) as individuals donning purple and silver in the first event.
 
Women
After coming up just 7 shots short of a nationals berth in 2023, the women's program is on the rise. Led by three-time team MVP and three-time RSEQ all-star Avery Mack (Ottawa, ON/Immaculata High School) (Royal Ottawa), Bishop's will look to take advantage of their home course in the fist event. RSEQ second-team all-star Macy Louvet-Maik (Beaconsfield, QC/John Abbott College) (Royal Montreal) also returns alongside Bri Allan (Hamilton, ON/Ancaster High School) (Beverly) who is back for a second season. Rounding out the team is Ashley Lebel (Montréal, QC/Dawson College) (Pinegrove) who battle injury in her rookie season but is ready to go as a sophomore.
 
The Year
The Gaiters open the year at home with a two-day, three round event at Milby.
 
They will then head to Kingston for the Queen's Invitational, an exhibition event and addition to their schedule.
 
Bishop's returns to the site of their triumph a year ago when they play the Laval Invitational, the second official RSEQ event, at Club de Golf Levis.
 
Finally, the RSEQ Championship takes place at Club de Golf Gatineau from Sept. 23-25.

Les golfeurs des Gaiters prêts à défendre le championnat du RSEQ
LENNOXVILLE, Qc - Les équipes de golf des Gaiters de Bishop's prendront le départ pour la première fois de la saison du RSEQ lundi et mardi au club de golf Milby.
 
Les hommes tenteront de défendre le titre du RSEQ qu'ils ont remporté il y a un an, tandis que les femmes tenteront de se qualifier pour les championnats nationaux pour la première fois de l'histoire de leur programme, après avoir raté de peu l'occasion en 2023.
 
L'équipe masculine
Dirigés par l'entraîneur de l'année 2023 du RSEQ, Ryan Smith, les Gaiters sont de retour avec les cinq partants qui les ont aidés à remporter leur premier championnat en 30 ans. Ryan Massicotte (Québec, QC/Champlain College St. Lawrence), l'athlète masculin de l'année de l'Université Bishop's, est le pilier d'une équipe qui comprend Shawn Robillard (Sherbrooke, QC/Champlain College Lennoxville) et Scott Loach (Lennoxville, QC/Champlain College Lennoxville), tous deux membres de Milby, tandis que Michael Brazel (Ayer's Cliff, QC/Champlain College Lennoxville) (Dufferin Heights) et Landen Harison (Vernon, BC/Columbia Bible College), natif de Vernon, en Colombie-Britannique, complètent l'équipe. Tous ont mérité le statut d'étoile du RSEQ au cours de leur carrière.
 
Le vétéran William Cote (Québec, QC/Bishop's College School) est rejoint par les nouveaux venus Max Hay (Fredericton, NB/Leo Hayes High School) et Felix Wilson (Ottawa, ON/Immaculata High School) en tant qu'individus dans le premier tournoi.

Après avoir raté de sept coups une place aux championnats nationaux en 2023, le programme féminin est en pleine ascension. Dirigé par Avery Mack (Ottawa, ON/Immaculata High School) (Royal Ottawa), trois fois joueuse la plus utile de l'équipe et trois fois étoile du RSEQ, Bishop's tentera de tirer avantage de son parcours à domicile lors du premier tournoi. Membre de la deuxième équipe d'étoiles du RSEQ, Macy Louvet-Maik (Beaconsfield, QC/John Abbott College) (Royal Montréal), est également de retour, tout comme Bri Allan (Hamilton, ON/Ancaster High School) (Beverly), qui en est à sa deuxième saison. L'équipe est complétée par Ashley Lebel (Montréal, QC/Dawson College) (Pinegrove), qui a dû se battre contre une blessure à sa saison recrue, mais qui est prête à partir en tant que joueuse de deuxième année.
 
Saison
Les Gaiters commencent l'année à domicile avec un événement de deux jours et trois rondes à Milby.
 
Ils se rendront ensuite à Kingston pour le Queen's Invitational, un tournoi d'exhibition qui s'ajoute à leur calendrier.
 
Bishop's retournera sur le site de son triomphe de l'an dernier alors qu'il jouera le tournoi invitation de Laval, le deuxième événement officiel du RSEQ, au Club de golf Lévis.
 
Enfin, le Championnat du RSEQ aura lieu au Club de golf de Gatineau du 23 au 25 septembre.
