LENNOXVILLE, Que. – Local product Michael Brazel (Ayer's Cliff, QC/Champlain College Lennoxville) of Ayer's Cliff, Que. made history on Tuesday as he became the first Bishop's Gaiter to win an individual event in the modern-day RSEQ University Golf format.  He did it at the Bishop's Invitational hosted at the Milby Golf Club.
 
His win coupled with teammate Shawn Robillard's (Sherbrooke, QC/Champlain College Lennoxville) second place finish helped the Gaiters start their championship defense on the right foot as they also claimed the team title.
 
On the women's side Bri Allan (Hamilton, ON/Ancaster High School) fired a career best 76 in the third round to pace the Gaiters to a third place showing.

The men won the first event of the season for the second consecutive year, after also claiming the title at Milby a year ago when Sherbrooke hosted. Brazel fired rounds of 70-71-75 for a 3-under total.  Robillard finished his third round with an eagle at the par-5 17^th hole and birdied the tough par-4 18^th to seal the team victory for the Gaiters.  Landen Harison (Vernon, BC/Columbia Bible College) played his best round on Tuesday as he fired a 1-under 72.  Scott Loach (Lennoxville, QC/Champlain College Lennoxville) and Ryan Massicotte (Québec, QC/Champlain College St. Lawrence) rounded out the fivesome for Bishop's. William Cote (Québec, QC/Bishop's College School) found red numbers as an individual after shooting 72 on Tuesday, while rookies Max Hay (Fredericton, NB/Leo Hayes High School) and Felix Wilson (Ottawa, ON/Immaculata High School) also compteted as individuals finshing in 10^th, 33^rd and 35^th respectively.
 
Allan led the way for the Gaiters women's team with the second-best round of the day on Tuesday.  She finished the event in sixth place.  Veteran Avery Mack (Ottawa, ON/Immaculata High School) backed up a pair of 82's with an 83 to finish in eighth place.  Ashley Lebel (Montréal, QC/Dawson College) and Macy Louvet-Maik (Beaconsfield, QC/John Abbott College) rounded out the Gaiters squad who sit 15 shot back of Sherbrooke for second place.
 
The Gaiters teams return to the links on Sept. 9-10 when they travel to Levis for the Laval Invitational at Club de Golf Levis.

LENNOXVILLE, Qué. - Le produit local Michael Brazel (Ayer's Cliff, QC/Champlain College Lennoxville), d'Ayer's Cliff, au Québec, est entré dans l'histoire mardi en devenant le premier Gaiter de Bishop's à remporter un tournoi individuel dans le format moderne du golf universitaire du RSEQ.  Il l'a fait lors du tournoi invitation de Bishop's qui s'est déroulé au Club de golf Milby.
 
Sa victoire, jumelée à la deuxième place de son coéquipier Shawn Robillard (Sherbrooke, QC/Champlain College Lennoxville), a permis aux Gaiters d'amorcer leur défense du championnat du bon pied, puisqu'ils ont également remporté le titre par équipe.
 
Du côté féminin, Bri Allan (Hamilton, ON/Ancaster High School) a réalisé un meilleur score en carrière de 76 en troisième ronde pour mener les Gaiters à la troisième place.

Brazel a joué des rondes de 70-71-75 pour un total de 3 sous la normale.  Robillard a terminé sa troisième ronde avec un aigle au 17e trou à normale 5 et a réussi un oiselet au difficile 18e trou à normale 4 pour confirmer la victoire des Gaiters.  Landen Harison (Vernon, BC/Columbia Bible College) a joué sa meilleure ronde mardi, avec une carte de 1 sous la normale de 72.  Scott Loach (Lennoxville, QC/Champlain College Lennoxville) et Ryan Massicotte (Québec, QC/Champlain College St. Lawrence) ont complété le quintette pour Bishop's. William Cote (Québec, QC/Bishop's College School) a trouvé les chiffres rouges en tant qu'individu après avoir joué 72 mardi, tandis que les recrues Max Hay (Fredericton, NB/Leo Hayes High School) et Felix Wilson (Ottawa, ON/Immaculata High School) ont également compté en tant qu'individus, terminant respectivement en 10e, 33e et 35e position.
 
Allan a mené l'équipe féminine des Gaiters avec la deuxième meilleure ronde de la journée de mardi.  Elle a terminé l'événement en sixième place.  La vétérane Avery Mack (Ottawa, ON/Immaculata High School) a terminer en huitième place.  Ashley Lebel (Montréal, QC/Dawson College) et Macy Louvet-Maik (Beaconsfield, QC/John Abbott College) ont complété l'équipe des Gaiters qui se trouve à 15 coups de Sherbrooke pour la deuxième place.
 
Les Gaiters retourneront sur les terrains les 9 et 10 septembre lorsqu'ils se rendront à Lévis pour participer à l'Invitation Laval au Club de golf de Lévis.
