LAST TIME OUT: The Gaiters picked up their first AUS win in thrilling fashion, scoring a 32-31 (2OT) win over the Mount Allison Mounties in Sackville, N.B. The Gaiters trailed 24-10 late in the game, but a touchdown rush by Louis-Philippe Gregoire (/) - capping a 6-play, 108-yard drive - cut the lead to seven. Bishop's forced overtime on the last play of regulation time, as Trey Millings (Laval, Que./Champlain-Lennoxville) scored on a rush from the 1-yard line. In overtime, Millings scored his second TD of the game to put the Gaiters up, but the Mounties responded immediately. In the second OT period, Vincent Dubé's field-goal attempt sailed wide right through the end zone for a single point. The Gaiters defence held, forcing the Mounties to punt for a single to tie, and the kick was short. Mathieu Demers (Quebec City, Que./Cégep LImoilou) had a nice game, completing 30 of 47 passes for 369 yards. Millings finished with 19 carries for 138 yards, the most for a Gaiter since 2012, and Nathan Walker (Brampton, Ont./St. Roch C.S.S.) had 10 catches for 138 yards.

WHEN LAST WE MET: A pair of touchdown runs by fourth-year quarterback Jesse Andrews led the Gaiters to a 33-12 victory over the No. 6-ranked St. Francis Xavier X-Men in Antigonish on Oct. 17, 2009. The crowd of 1,700 at Oland Stadium saw the Gaiters take the Bigg Bowl for the first time and remain in the QUFL playoff race. Andrews threw for the Gaiters' two other touchdowns, and finished with 128 rushing yards and 148 passing yards. Andrews scored on a 20-yard run in the second quarter, and a career-long 72-yard run at the end of the third quarter. Andrews iced the game in the fourth quarter, as he led the Gaiters on a clock-chewing 11-play drive that consumed 5:07, culminating in a Justin Conn 23-yard field goal. Andrews finished 8-for-13 for 148 yards passing, and was 9-for-128 on the ground. Matt Burke carried the ball 21 times for 64 yards. Olivier Mongeau was the Gaiters' leading receiver with four catches for 63 yards. Mathieu Boulay had a career-high three sacks, and recorded five total tackles. Boulay shared the team lead with linemen Elie Ngoyi and Junior Turner.

THE SERIES: The X-Men lead the all-time series 2-1. The first meeting was in 2002 at Coulter Field, when the X-Men downed Bishop's 22-7. The next two matchups took place in Nova Scotia, a 50-17 StFX win in 2004, and the 33-12 Gaiter victory in 2009.
HE'S THE CHERIF: Friday was the first win at the university level for Gaiters head coach Cherif Nicolas. The Montreal native amassed a 56-26 record at the collegiate level in seven seasons with the CEGEP de Vieux-Montréal Spartiates, including winning the 2014 Bol d'Or.

MEN FOR ALL PURPOSES: Trey Millings (Laval, Que./Champlain-Lennoxville) and Nathan Walker (Brampton, Ont./St. Roch C.S.S.) are currently second and fourth in the AUS in all-purpose yards. Millings is averaging 181.3 all-purpose yards per game, after putting up 187 last week (138 rushing, 49 receiving). Walker, for his part, burst up the leaderboard this week with 317 all-purpose yards on Friday at Mount A. His total was the second-highest in Gaiter history, behind only Jamall Lee's 405 yards on Sept. 19, 2008.

UP NEXT: The Gaiters have their second bye of the season next week. They are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 7, when they host the Acadia Axemen.
