LENNOXVILLE, Que. – Bishop's Gaiters defensive back
Jake Kelly (Markham, ON/Bill Crothers S.S.) was picked 15
th overall by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Tuesday night in the 2023 CFL Draft.
Kelly impressed at the CFL combine recording the highest vertical (40.5") and fourth fastest 40-yard dash time (4.56).
Analysts Duane Ford, Marshall Ferguson and Jim Barker raved about Kelly's athleticism on TSN's draft coverage. They alluded to his outstanding performance at the 2022 East-West Bowl with Barker saying he was without a doubt the best athlete at that event.
Kelly is the first Gaiter selected in the draft since 2018 when Mathieu Breton (Saskatchewan) and Matthew Ouellet De Carlo (Winnipeg) were chosen. He is the highest selection since Junior Turner went 9
th overall in 2011 to Calgary.
