When Ian came to Bishop’s in 1929 basketball was the sport of his choice and became the catalyst in his development as an outstanding athlete. No Bishop’s graduate has contributed more on the international track & field scene than Ian Hume. He holds 14 world records and over 40 Canadian records in various Masters track and field events. Ian has been one of Canada’s most outstanding competitors, coaches, and administrators.

Ian was chosen to be the Canadian representative to the International Amateur Athletic Federation at three Olympic Games (Munich, Montreal and Los Angeles).

A native of Melbourne, Quebec, Dr. Hume still volunteers his time for various local track and field meets.
