Wall of Distinction
Steve King was simply a nationally-renowned Athletic Therapist and the man in charge of Athletic Therapy at Bishop’s from 1984 to 2013.
The Mississauga native came to Bishop’s in 1984 after a stint with Champlain Lennoxville. He was a part of every Bishop’s team imaginable and was a difference maker for the Gaiters. He worked diligently to return athletes to the field of play, monitoring the health of our athletes and ensuring they could contribute to the team’s success.
He was a member of numerous Gaiter conference championship teams, including the 1998 Men’s Basketball National Championship.
While Steve brought great pride and visibility to Bishop’s, he made a name for himself as an athletic therapist at seven different Olympic Games, including Sarajevo (1984), Albertville (1992), Nagano (1998), Salt Lake City (2002) and London (2012). In Torino (2006) and Beijing (2008) King was the Head Therapist for the Canadian Delegation.
At the Nagano games he worked directly with gold medal snowboarder Ross Rebagliati and in London he was alongside gymnast Rosie MacLennan who also brought home gold.
King resides in Lennoxville with wife Wendy and continues to teach part time at Bishop’s.
