Paul Connery's accomplishments as a down lineman for the Bishop's Gaiters, allowed him to achieve numerous individual awards and win a Dunsmore Cup.
In 1994, Paul won the J.P. Metras Trophy as the country's best down lineman recording 7 sacks and 46 tackles. His presence on defense helped the Gaiters win the OQIFC championship that year.
Connery's stand out performance that year earned him the football team's Most Outstanding Player award and the Bishop's University Male Athlete of the Year award and an all-Canadian selection.
Over his five-year career, Connery registered 114 tackles and 15 sacks from his defensive lineman position.
After graduating from Bishop's in 1995, Connery joined Larry Ring's coaching staff at the University of Ottawa. He remained on the Gee-Gees staff until 2001.
While coaching, Connery worked part-time as a youth worker with the William E. Hay Youth Detention Centre.
In 2000 Connery secured a full time position with the Ottawa District School Board as an educational assistant.
