1997-98 MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM
National Champions
The 1997-98 Men's Basketball Team completed an outstanding season by capturing the CIAU National Championship with three exciting victories in Halifax in front of a packed house including over 300 BU students in the Metro Center.
The team captured the Quebec conference with a 18-2 record (30-6 overall) and was ranked number one in Canada in January.
Still, they shocked many when they swept past Alberta (75-67), Victoria (78-76) and McMaster (74-71) in the finals as they demonstrated great team work and determination.
Stew Clark was selected as the tournament MVP while Eddie Pomykala was chosen the CIAU Coach of the Year.
Team members included Patrice Lemieux, Markus Rodousakis, Joel Sherbino, Rob Burns, Dwayne Ells, Sam Rogers, Greg Southward, Jamie Woods, Ryan Thorne, Shaun Craik, Sam Menard, Brian Woods, Andrew Carter, Stewart Clark, Kris Ruiter, Remi Aucoin, Tommy Sutton (manager), Chris Forsythe (student assistant), athletic therapist Steve King and coaches Jeff Harris and Eddie Pomykala.
