Gladys was highly revered by her peers as an excellent basketball and ice hockey player. She was extremely involved on the Athletics Board as well as student government and always took fullest interest in the activities of the University's athletics and social affairs.

A captain of the women's hockey team in 1933 and 34, Gladys was also said to have been a most reliable individual who played an integral role as a student in the development of women's athletics as Bishop's.
